The idea of using a flashlight-effect came almost immediately when I was creating the detective concept. IΓÇÖd used the flashlight-effect in a Flash animation before, although it wasnΓÇÖt user interactive at that time. So I had to create a way that the visitors of the site could drag the flashlight around the screen and make the flashlight behave in a realistic way. This meant that the shape of the flashlight should depend on the angle and position in the Flash Movie. This is what I came up with:
